Never had them even open the gas cap. Check on horizons unlimited web
site for the borders you will be crossing to see if there is any recent
changes to that but if customs is looking they will just poke a small
expandable mirror and flashlight into the tank. They are more likely to
have you remove the side panels. Dont give them a reason to look though.
If you are not polite to them and don't have your paperwork ready and
don't pay the, ummm, tarrifs, where required they are more likely to
point the mirror and flashlight somewhere less plesant. Again, some
research from recent travelers posting on Horizons unlimited is the best
way to know where there are real issues and where you will just pay the
carrat and go
Fuel tank question pPosted by:

7:01 pm (PDT)Long shot question here...
Has anybody ridden a KLR to Tierra del Fuego with the IMS tank that you
can see thru? I am interested in whether or not the tank might be a
problem when going thru customs/inspections or with cops looking for an
excuse. There are plenty of beaucratic nightmare stories from down
there...
thx Joe

mexico - gas problem?
No further problems with the bike about gas ... or whatever. I'll
check it out thoroughly when it gets home.
Thanks for all the help - it sure helps when you're miles from home!
Best,
Chris
