gps/satellite tracking / rescue alert device

Post by Ron and Brenda Moorhouse » Mon Dec 29, 2008 10:03 pm

My Sons bought me The Spot for Chistmas. My wife put them up to it so she can see when I stop for a beer. Just kidding. Have set it up and tested it out. Very accurate pinpointing on Google maps; rugged design, will take abuse. Instant text message sent to my Son and verified (you set up who (lets you send to quite a few addresses if you choose) receives messages (email and text; when you are out on a trip)). On Spot website, my Wife just checks all the relavent messages that the device leaves (each time you manually send one or ones the device automatically sends every 10 minutes (requires addt $50 year service (basic is $99.99 annually)) and then she clicks on "show on map" and sees very accurate progress along my route and where I currently am located. Also, there is a non-emergency help button that goes to family and friends that you designate and lets them know you are personally ok but need help anyway (for mechancal breakdowns); The Emergency feature is 911 that goes out to all area search and rescue agencies giving them your exact location. This is most important one but can't test it (I don't think so anyway; going to read some more to see if there is a test mode that will let me know agencies got the signal but don't respond) Ron Moorhouse Modesto, CA ________________________________ From: Doug To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Sent: Monday, December 15, 2008 7:45:14 PM Subject: [DSN_KLR650] GPS/Satellite tracking / rescue alert device saw this over on ADVrider.... looks like something I might consider getting. check it out: http://www.advrider .com/forums/ showthread. php?t=415787 Doug [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

This has nothing to due with KLR's, but because of its author and timing of its secret passage through one house already, I thought those of you here in the US would want to know, since the media have kept it from us. You can Google "Senate Bill S 2433" or start here: http://maggiesnotebook.blogspot.com/2008/04/obamas-senate-bill-s2433-un- global-tax.html Jake

Ah, the Global Poverty Act of 2007. No secret, it was introduced in the US Senate earlier this year. http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:s.02433: If you're worried about taxes, worry about the 'free-market' Bush administration giving billions and billions of taxpayer dollars to uncompetitive companies. I'm curious as to what you might find objectionable about this bill. I have no idea what it contains, but on its face it would seem to promote a goal that would advance the security of the U.S. Is there something about the identity of the author that gives cause for suspicion? Is there something that distinguishes it from thousands of other bills that should cause the properly vigilant media to send up an alarm?

We obviously cannot afford the good intentions of this Senate Bill. Bush and Barney Frank have bankrupted the US. Bush cost us 1 trillion dollars with the Iraq War mess. Barney Frank cost us 2 trillion dollars with his subprime loan programs for the poor. Now the US govt. owns(or in effect owns) big chunks of AIG, GM, Chrysler and several banks. So, if it is big spending or socialism you are worried about, BUSH AND FRANK are bigger commies than Obama!
