gps/satellite tracking / rescue alert device

Post by Silver Duck » Tue Dec 16, 2008 10:52 am

This is a HIGHLY recommended tool. I took one on the TAT last summer and it tracked my progress daily on a map so that my friends could watch my tour. It also allows you to proactively tell loved ones that you are ok multiple times during the day. It gave my wife an enormous sense of peace knowing where I was and that things were ok during the 10 day tour. The proactive portion of the system is that you can call 911 and it will lat-long you to the closest emergency personnel. ________________________________ From: Doug To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Sent: Monday, December 15, 2008 9:45:14 PM Subject: [DSN_KLR650] GPS/Satellite tracking / rescue alert device saw this over on ADVrider.... looks like something I might consider getting. check it out: http://www.advrider .com/forums/ showthread. php?t=415787 Doug [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

if you rig it like it should have been. I found out the hard way. I got an old LOUD Mercedes horn out of my friend's junkyard. I then rigged it with an old Bosch relay I had around. I ran 12 gauge wire directly from my battery to the relay with a 15 amp fuse inline. And the horn button was now used to activate a horn relay. My Jeep air horns died going through big puddles so I rigged my old KLR650 horn on my Jeep cuz I still had it laying around. With the proper amount of current the stock KLR650 is very LOUD. Remember 1)Upgrade the front brake rotor size(pre08) 2)Rig your horn with a relay 3)Put in a brighter headlamp bulb(pre08) AND YOU WILL HAVE A SAFER NEW YEAR!
