<><><><><><><><><><> <><><><><><><><><><> Mike, I've never heard of the Valucraft antifreeze that I can remember. It's probably fine for the KLR as long as you don't leave it in for extended periods of time. Maybe plan on replacement once each year when doing some other maintenance. I think the largest concern with antifreeze in bikes is that it doesn't contain silicates. A few years ago I did a bit of searching for what coolant I was going to use in my KRL. Some containers announce they were free of silicates but the majority didn't say anything one way or the other. I suppose a guy could call the 1 800 number on the container and ask the manufacturer. I have finally settled on using Toyota Redline antifreeze in my KLR coolant system. A few others that have installed Thermo-Bobs or done other coolant system maintenance at my shop have also used a bit. The only drawback I've found with it is the price. Sit down now... It's about $22 a gallon when I bought it at the beginning of this year. If you want some just come on over to Rapid City and either bring a container or change your coolant in my shop. You only need a couple of bucks worth for the KLR. I sure wouldn't ride over here at this time of year for some coolant but... : ) One thing you should probably consider for your KLR and your riding climate is getting a Thermo-Bob. That will do wonderful things for you engine temperature. It will reach temp sooner (about 30 degrees higher than the stock system will allow) and then remain where it's supposed to remain. The change in coolant temp inside your engine will also have less temperature fluctuation (maybe 10-15 degrees) versus the drastic stock system changes (about 80 degrees). I think the best thing you can do for you coolant choice is to keep it fresh versus let it remain for years. The additive package will wear out and then the corrosion will start.
