I just ordered a chain from Arrowhead, assuming it would be an endless chain like the stock chain. It's not (Bikemaster o -ring) What's the consensus on chains? - master link or continuous. I'm a little more comfortable with the endless chain, but I might be stuck with this one. I did find a master link and related tool kit for a rivet type link. I don't think it makes much difference on a bike with the limited power available like the KLR whether the chain is continuous like stock, rivet or clip style master link. Well no difference as long as the master link is assembled correctly. We covered this awhile ago and if I remember both seemed we'll received. I for one like the rivet/continuous (see below), but others have ridden the ML style with no worries whatsoever. Although some talked about wiring and backing-up the ML. I say why bother? Use a modern rivet unless you're one of the guys switching wheels/sprockets that uses the benefit of a quicker-release chain. I remember one guy talking about a ML chain used on a powerful drag- bike with no worries, so for strength it appears moot. Personally, I like the rivet-style. I have no data to back up my assertion other than memories of a boy riding my bicycle and smashing my balls on the goose neck when a ML failed riding BMX. Been there rubbed that. I breath easier with continuous... Brian

Clip links have never given me a problem except for the one time I tried to get away with an industrial master link on an o-ring chain. But since finding a rivet-setting tool for less than twenty bucks (and since Fred showed me how easy it is to use a rivet link) I have been using rivets almost always. I carry a clip link and compact installation tools in case of emergency, but so far these have only proven useful to other riders.
