I have noticed that KLRistas are solidly pro-McCain. McCain is
probably better for off road riding esp. on federal lands. But, this is
not the main issue except maybe for hard core off road enthusiasts.
Elections for President only happen every 4 yrs; so grin and bear it.
This is a time of tremendous upheaval. Let the KLRistas vent!
I personally don't see how either McCain or Obama would be good for the
country. Neither will admit the deficit problems enough to talk
honestly to the American. And they both know something must be done
about the deficit yet both are afraid to admit it. It goes back to
Bush Sr. read my lips no new taxes and his losing the election.

Jeffrey - If your energy costs (for your house and driving/riding) go
down, this means more money in your pocket for other things including
savings. Oil prices have sky rocketed under Bush with McCain
supporting him. Obama isn't for high oil prices. He doesn't have
cronies he need to enrich grossly. He's pro-alternative energies
that will lower energy costs. Watch Obama win and oil prices
continue falling. I think this will benefit all KLR riders in
addition to reducing education costs and healthcare costs. I'm
definitely making sure we're not giving this $hit away for free!
This isn't socialism! We need to stay vigilant even with Obama. Let
Congress know what we're willing to die for. For me, it's NOT
countless Mexicans and illegals crossing our boarders to fill up on
free healthcare and other social benefits. No! Uh uh. No free
rides for anyone. I'm for locking down our borders for legal
immigration...the same way our parents go in while we figure out how
to lower the costs of healthcare, energy, and education. Again, no
hand-outs. Rather how can we lower prices while increase quality for
everyone. You're still going to have to work hard regardless of the
president elected. But it's one thing to want to work hard and it's
another to have opportunities. McSame has no plan to create jobs
with good pay. I think Obama will using alternative energy as a
revolution.
So most importantly, Obama is for creating jobs that will drive our
economy. I/we don't have all the answers here either. But we didn't
either before putting a man on the moon, before curing polio, or
building a national highway system, etc. However sacrificing our
industrial capacity which is now at 1974 levels is God damn absurd!
Without good paying jobs, innovation and a reliable economy, nothing
will matter to KLR enthusiasts. So I strongly disagree people in
this forum aren't affected. Sticking your head in the sand is what
allowed our government run-wild to run-up $10 trillion in debt,
several wars, out-of-control oil prices, and trillions in bailout $$$
for greedy bastards plundering our public!
Without a strong economy, who can afford to maintain roads and
bridges and otherwise fight to keep open the riding areas we all
enjoy. With $10 billion in debt where is the money going to come
from to defend ourselves if a world war erupts? Just look at people
struggling and having to sell their KLR just to make ends meet! I
have 4 people that want to sell me a KLR a below market value. It's
disgusting taking advantage of the situation, but riders have to take
care of themselves before they'll even think about their KLR. This
is why the list is short sighted in thinking only oil quality and
torque values matter in their little bubbles. When your rights and
freedoms are at stake like they are now, it matters to everything
including KLRista longevity.

Remember, Folks Keep democracy alive!!! Vote Early, Vote Often!!!
We just had a Federal election, after all the rhetoric and the phoney
statements and promises, we have ended up roughly where we were. Only
about 50% of Canadians that were eligible to vote did so, so nothing
changed. If you don't like what you've got. get off your fat ----- and
vote. You at least get he right to bitch about the result that way.
I enjoy reading the opinions of Americans who are not being paid to
spout the party line, it is a nice change from the "talking heads".
Lots of luck with your upcoming elections.

Its sad for me to say, but to me, G. Bush is an embarrasement as a president. I made a similiar statement on an HD forum, and someone tried to hand me my head on a post. He was spouting all about the war in Iraq being a good thing, while I tried to point out that "Irag" didn't attack out Twin Towers in NY, and that there were more Sadi's in that bunch that did attack us.I don't seem to remember anyone advocating an attack on Saudi Arabia. The amount of money and lives we are throwing into the Iraq situation really is mind boggling to me.I am not a member of any party and never vote for the party.I've voted Republican, Demeocrat and Independant. But this time my vote goes to the Democratic Presidential candidate.I have nothing but respect for Mcain and his military record, and I know he means well, but I can't vote for him in this one. Also, I don't believe his choice for Vice-Pres. is a good one.At his age and bearing in mind his health, its not a
stretch to the US being put in the position to have Palin for President. That could not be a good thing.

Hmmm, maybe I bought the wrong bike. Tell me, which dual purpose bikes are the Obama, Barr, Paul and/or Baldwin riders rallying around?
