Question about tire sizes.

Does anyone have first hand experience with using a 140\80\17 or a
5.10\17 on the rear instead of the standard 130\80\17, and if you do
how did it work. I am thinking about going with a 140\80\17 Metzeler
Tourance for my street oriented tires and a Kendra K270 for my more
 dirt oriented tires.

Also will the Superbrace work ok with the Kendra 3.25\21 K270, and
did people get better handling with the large tires. Especially in
 sand.

Dude, got the 5.10 and is great in the soft stuff. Although I'm
talkin' snow, not much sand yet... I did have to reattach the stock
tailpipe so the pipe mounting flanges are outside the frame tube
mounts. Moved it out about 1/2". Before that the knobs rubbed badly
on any bump. I must say the the old Bridgestone on the rear rubbed
the muffler on rear compression...not sure what the issue with that
was. The front floats better over the soft stuff, but I get high
speed shake at around 80 mph. Again, don't know if it's due to
wider/bigger tire or just the knobs being taller or both. Hope this
 helps...

It varies depending on the make/model of tire. What kind of tire are you thinking about running?>I am buying a new rear tire for my KLR-650. Since the standard size rear >tire is a 130/80/17 what is the the largest rear tire that can fit >without having a problems.

I have a 97 KLR650, the manual calls for a 130/80-17 tire for the
rear. I like tred design of the Dunlop D606 but it only comes in (at
least that is all I have found) in a 130/90-17. Does anyone know if I
can go with this bigger tire and still clear the swing arm?

 Thanks,
 Rob

The 130/90 D606 should fit fine.

I just mounted a 3.25x21 and it fit just fine, im sure there is plenty
 of room for a 3.00x21.
