front fender farkle brace question

I got a Vista cruise last week and tried to test fit it this afternoon. Doesnt look like it fits given a cursory glance. There is a lip on the inside of the the grip that the thicker part of the locking mechanism is hitting. Dont want to pull it apart before asking the obvious question. Has anybody put one on an 08 before? I have the one used on MarkNet, link below, purchased from http://www.arrowheadmotorsports.com/, and being their part number 12- 7130 as seen in their store under KLR650/control. WOW, what the hell did I just say? Gotta stop working with all those layers. I was planning to use the nicely done instructions at http://www.klr650.marknet.us/vistacruise.html. I fear they may have changed the throttle a bit for 08 but havent pulled the grip off to see yet. Much easier to ask the stupid question first.

I might be riding with him on Wednesday for a few miles in the hills and if that happens I'll try to get a photo or two for you. I don't think it's a big deal to install it in a manner similar to what is shown on the site you referenced. Martin Earl and I did one last week on his 98? when we also added heated grips. For the earlier models I like to use two pieces of metal to hold the device in place. I have seen in some photos of KLR's a brace for the KLR's front fender, who makes that brace, is it worth the investment, and where can I get one? The brace that I have seen looks like something right out of the Road Warrior movie. Any info would be appreciated. Also, any of you got a used one for sale? Eddie (03' KLR - "la poderosa)
