I'm thinking that the repair on the radiator repair diminished the cooling capacity a bit. You could also have an air bubble. You might be able to squeeze the coolant hoses and look at what the fluid does. I do it with a hot engine (open thermostat) but be careful so you don't scald yourself opening the hot system etc. WE've had temps in the 90's last couple of weeks and my stock KLR kicks in the fan and the gauge stays over half most of the time. I don't like it. I kept my hand by the petcock for a minute the other day (while riding) and it got real hot. My thinking is that when I get my Thermo-Bob I'll drain the coolant and use my good old Zerex G-05 and appropriate amount of WaterWetter. I'll also see about modding the side scoop to get more air to the radiator and possibly the fan and its shroud could stand some sealing to the radiator to move more air successfully through it. Oh, also, check your amount of coolant. If it never freezes in your neck of the woods, you can run less antifreeze in the coolant as water cools better. The WaterWetter breaks the surface tension of the water so it transfer heat more efficiently from the engine. Good luck //Reverend On Thu, 03 Jul 2008 14:35:06 -0000 "mikeypep"
