I have just aquired a 1987 KLR650. It was sitting for 6 years with out
running and fuel in the tank. I removed the tank and emptied the fuel.
Removed the carb and cleaned in with carb cleaner. I refueled it and it
starts and runs, it idles great, but really Putts and boggs untill
about 3500 rpm then it runs great. I did replce the throttle diaphram
it hand a small tear on the outer edge but that did not help.I think I
should remove and clean the carb again. unless anyone here has any
ideas.. thanks

klr bogs down until 3500 rpm then ok, after sitting 6 years
It sounds like you may have a flow restriction, take the petcock apart and
clean it out.

Myself I would add Seafoam and ride it to see if it clears up.
