We're installing a 705 kit and Stage II head on my bike this Saturday... in Angels Camp. You are welcome to join us there, let me know. I will be leaving real early from SF to ride up there, the big box from Schnitz is already there. If anyone else wants to come, let me know. Michael -- "Tragedy is when I cut my finger. 08 valve check.
Because I am headed out on a Coast to Coast in Canada trip on
Monday, I had the valves checked at 4467 km. Both intakes were OK, but
both exhausts were slightly tight. The mech replaced a 270 shim with a
275 on both. Not being a mechanic, more knowledgeable people than me can
interpret that. That 4467 km is about 3000 mi.
I was wondering about the valve change intervals, I think I got a
gentle hint. Won't bother with the suggested oil change intervals either.

Putting in a larger shim will make the clearance tighter, not looser. Are you sure that's what he did? -- "Tragedy is when I cut my finger. You just went from bad to worse. Thicker shims equals less clearance, thiner shims equals
more clearance.

I gotta agree. Someone screwed the pooch. If valves too tight, replacement
shim should have LOWER number. You BETTER check this! And stop running the
bike until you do. Damage is likely immenent.
