Is there anyone from Australia on the list.I am thinking of flying from Canada to Australia next September and buying a second hand(2006/07) KLR.I want to tour Aus for 6 or 7 months, sell the bike and fly back home.I am currently in Bolivia on my 2007 KLR.I have 52000 klm on the bike since I left Canada on Oct 1/07.I am on my way back home to touch base with family and friends, but would like to head south again before winter sets in.I need information on availability of 2nd hand bikes and the laws regarding foreign ownership and insurance.Any information would be appreciated.Probably best to respond off list? Thank you................ -Wayne" The difference between an adventure and an ordeal is attitude"(unknown)-2007A-21 KLR650(it's a manly Fire Engine Red)-1995 R100RT-1991VW Westy GL-ABC 6461 MOA-71007 http://wayneadamson.blogspot.com/

Hello Wayne, Ping this guy--he just moved from down-under and even has a KLR for sale in OZ--not an 06/07 shrug. He should have contacts in OZ, maybe even some-don't-contact folks. cough. phillip.benefield@... OZ by the way is the only place you can buy JT-46T sprockets. When combined with a 16T for paved road or 14T for off/pavement, it makes the KLR a whole different beastie. revmaaatin.

Top posting, 'cause I'm used to it.... Wayne, let me know when you got some dates of arrival and I might be able to help you out. Happen to live in Sydney (the one in Oz). There are not many KLRs down under, I should add. I came across 4 or 5 in the last few years. ....Still reading your blog... excellent trip! Cheers, heinz Wayne Adamson wrote:

Just installed a Pirelli Scorpion A/T with a Michelin tube on my A14. Nice tire! and a nice heavy duty tube, too. Works great for the street anyway and looks like it will handle gravel roads no problem. Rumor has it that it's no good in sand or mud, but from my brief experience with the KLR with Kendas on snow I think the KLR is just too heavy for that stuff anyway, unless you're a more skilled rider than I am. It was light years better than the Kenda on the street even before it was scrubbed in. It ignores rain grooves on the freeway and I can squeeze the brakes as hard as I can and it just grips - on dry asphalt anyway. I'm stoked. Still running the Kenda rear.
