My Nolan flip up helmet is noisy. I stood up on the pegs for a stretch
and noticed how much quieter it was on my 04 model. Obviously clean
air flow makes a difference. There must be significant turbulance that
increases noise. I have read previously that some owners remove their
windscreen with great results. I have done the same and I can report
that the noise reduction for me is significant.
So, if you are wondering if it can do the same for you, just stand up
on the pegs and find out. The rest is up to you.

windscreen removed - big difference
You can also play with an old scratched up helmet visor to make a fairing
that gives you some torso protection while maintaining clean air at helmet
level.

Actually, .50 cal comes in more than one size box, depending on the era of manufacture. Most 'now-days' are of the smaller dimension, but there were some in the larger cans, size-dependent upon where it was going to be shot from. During a 29PalmsEX in 1985, I think we shot some 15,000 .50cal rounds and it was all in the larger .50/20mm size can. What has never been suggested is the use of 60/81mm Motor cans. They are identical in footprint to the 11x 6 x 7s but are more than twice the height, and the box is the same lighter gauge material. It has been a while since I saw one, but they would actually be a more KLR useful box--lower weight, and force you to carry less crap into the field with you. It was TUMU or CA-Stu that has suggested: pack your stuff, unpack it; remove 1/2 of what you first packed--put it back on the shelf, repack. There are special occasions that would not be GOOD advice, but for most of us, it is spotted on. Even as we speak, I am loading out for a 13-day adversity/adventure. shrug. We shall see how much adventure, and how much adversity. It begins, zero dark thirty, 29 April. WISE GUY SWITCH-ON That is a pretty bike--and well thought out farkle. But what is this? Copyright 2004 R.J. Lautner Photographics at the bottom of each photo? Are we in a time warp? sans "LOST" How did you get a 2004 Copyright on a 2008 bike? Now, THAT is special. revmaaatin. I didn't write it (=copyright gig), I just read it. WISE GUY SWITCH-OFF ps: IN KLR fashion, Ben your post was a very useful. thanks.> doesn't come with a convenient way to lock it. > > If there is any interest I can dismount the case and take photos of > how I mounted it on my bike. > > Happy trails, > Bob L in Traverse City, MI >
