valve cover bolt thread pitch and dia?

Well, it's fixed now. It took me a while to clean up the engine from all the oil and gunk. Drilling was a pain b/c there almost wasn't enough room. I had to lean the drill pretty hard into the wire connectors to keep the bit straight. I coated the bit with grease to catch all the shavings. Ditto with the tap. Inserting the coil was a snap and I was off to the races. When tightening the bolt, I thought it strange it didn't just screw in like the other 3 bolts. Hmmm.... I carefully tightened until I felt it bottom, then torqued a bit more. Later, when I removed the bolt to check it out, and found the 1st 2 threads munged up at the tip of the bolt. The bolt was not damaged before I torqued it. WTF? Not sure what happened, but it works. I took the bike out for a test spin and so far, so good. I'll know more after a few thermal cycles to see if the repair is permanent or if something strips or pulls out. John
