Pioneer town is near Yucca Valley/Desert Hot Springs/Indio/Palm Springs. It is obviously best in fall or spring/now. Pioneer Town was built in the middle of nowhere by Hollywood tycoons and was mostly used for filming westerns. PappysandHarriets is a good restaurant/bar with good live music in the middle of nowhere. It is open for lunch and dinner and booze even later. The dirt road is doable with enduro or 50/50 even 60street/40dirt tires. However, there are more challenging roads that branch off to mines or ridges. Bring water, power or cliff bars and some layers of clothing. The road is difficult to find because the correct road to take has a sign "private road vehicles parked off road will be towed." The locals don't like motorcycles, noise or dust. Nobody hassled us but one would think a major OHV road like this would be better marked. Oh and Sunday I did Little Tujunga Cyn to Placerita Cyn to Lake Hughes to Lake Piru area to Simi Valley with an LA Hog group. I rode my 1979 RD400F and I had no idea that all these back roads connected and that there were so many cool lakes and backroads in the area. I split from the ride in Simi Valley when the hogs even with their GPS couldn't find the restaurant they had made dinner reservations at.
