flat tire again!
Friends,
As I drove home from my swimming hole and campesino
friends today, a little while ago, the rear tire went
flat. I was just in a bend in the road where they mug
people, so I backtracked to where a few houses are,
even if the dogs barked furiously.
Note well, just as my front tire on saturday morning,
no foreign objects in my tire, the valve in the tube
was ripped out.
I came to the conclusion that the tire and the tube
where turning independently of each other, and that
was the whining, wirring noise I had been worried
about for the last few weeks.
Now, I have been driving motorcycles for the last 15
years, every day, all the time, no car. But I have
never had this kind of problem. On the XR200, an old
second hand bike I had for a while, there was a tire
securing clamp device inside the tire. On this thing,
one is not supposed to need it.
What the hell is going on???
I may add a bit of humor and sarcasm, but this is no
screen play, or posturing, this is hard work in the
noon sunshine, glad I still could clean my throat and
spirit with a few mouthfulls of wodka, how else is a
fellow supposed to survive?
Changing the tube was routine, the hard part this time
was the heavy duty tube from Fred, an 18, not so easy
to accomodate inside. The C-clamp made putting the
rim over pretty easy. I consider myself a stupid
genius.
I apologize to the reverend and to all other decent
people for the use of the term "hell" and for
promoting the consumption of wodka, but..what is a man
to do? Just try to survive and make sense of this
crazy world. Anyhow, I made it back in time for
work, which is now. Jacostarica.

Dear friends,
I have consulted the book of books, the Clymer, and
there are two seals, the mechanical seal, and the oil
seal, and there is a little space between them, with a
small drain hole in the bottom, where water or oil
could leak out of.
The oil looks good as I peek thru the spy glass, so I
am pretty sure the mechanical seal has a minor leak,
and I am losing coolant thru that little hole.
I post this on the list as well, because it seems
important to me, and there could be some lurkers who
know even less than I do, can you imagine?
Also to invite comments from the experts. Anyhow I
will have to resort to major surgery again, and change
the seals. Marknet has an extensive how-to page with
pictures. I hope to get the seals and gaskets thru
Fred.
Be nice and civil to the Easter bunnies, you maniacs!
Jacostarica.
