<><><><><><><> <><><><><><><> Curt, I think you could get some bullet connectors and they'd fit ok. You can probably find them at a hardware store or radio shack. Make sure you get ones sized for the wires you'll be using. Depending on what you plan on using the 12v outlet for it might or might not work so good. The city lights wires are pretty small. If you want to power a GPS you'll probably be fine. If you want to run an electric vest you might be better served by using the city lights circuit to control a relay with a dedicated, fused wire supplying power to the outlet. Many folks have powered heated grips with the city lights wires but I don't think many folks have measured voltage drops in that circuit. For a larger current draw you'll have a pretty large voltage drop. That will really impact the effectiveness of the circuit and also I think put too large of a load on the switch contacts eventually causing premature failure. clutch springs lessons learned and a question
1. I have a '96 KLR650-A10. The spring kit the dealer calls out is CSK-30. They gave me,
for whatever reason, a CSK-23 kit which includes 6 springs which are shorter than the OEM
springs. Make sure you have the right spring kit before you take your bike apart. Now, my
bike gets to sit for a few days while I wait for the kit to come in. >:-(
2. Question: Anyone know which way the water pump impeller springy rubber thing goes? I
retardedly didn't pay attention when removing it from the impeller shaft. I think the flanged
side faces outward and the flat side faces the engine.
3. When removing the side cover, I put a screwdriver shaft through the clutch cable anchor.
This gave me a handle to pull the case off (use both hands). It worked great. You can hit the
case with a mallet all day long and not get the case off. A slight tug using the screwdriver
trick was all it took to get the case off.
4. Clean your oil screen! I found a bunch of metal chips and plastic on the other side of the
basket. It's no doubt grunge from the damaged doohickey I replaced last summer.
5. My coolant looked like algae water. No algae, but the same weak tea green color.
