(nklr) the end of the world must be near!
From my Apple sales man after looking at the new tiny
laptop/notebook...........the new Leopard OS is a dual boot system, you can
run it as a proprietary Apple OS or boot it to run Windows, straight up.
The gory news is that Apple and Microsoft are considering a merge. Can any
of you computer heads confirm or deny this tidbit of info? Pretty scary,
with how Microsoft got whacked by everybody for bundling Internet Explorer
with every new PC.

It would never happen--Microsoft doesn't want that because they want to be able to point to some other operating system and say that they have competition (i.e. they aren't a monopoly), and the government would never approve the merger because it would create a de facto monopoly. Not likely. Apple is a computer company that happens to bundle its own OS as a value add for its computers, but Apple is in the business of selling computers and other electronic gadgets, not software. Microsoft is a software company that has no interest in making computers. You might as well suggest that, say, Dell and Microsoft, are about to do a merger. In short, someone's pulling your leg. And arm. And hair. And ears. And nose. And ... And that's not counting the personal animosities between Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. Now that Bill Gates is stepping down from Microsoft that may not be a factor in the future, but certainly has been in the past... the only time Microsoft has ever done anything for Apple in recent times, it's because a court is breathing down their neck and they have little choice. -E (typing this on his Macbook).> of you computer heads confirm or deny this tidbit of info?
