Several of you guys are a hoot -- great writers with good sense of humor. Did any of you ever think about joining with some of the others and doing a magazine for bike adventure riding? I would subscribe, even if there was a reasonable fee. I would not be surprised to learn that some of you are already writing for such a journal. If so, please provide links....?
Just thinking out loud.

where did the doohickey parts go?
I'll echo Jeff's comments b/c he coached me (off the ledge) through
it when I had the same problem. Basically, I removed both side
covers and took one of those extendable magnets and fished every
orifice until I found and completely rebuilt the broken pieces to
account for everything. This damn near took a whole six pack!
Buggers. I spent 40 mins and almost gave up. There are a few ports
and gallies so search everything a few times. I did the same holes
so many times and then viola! the Nth time I came out. Now, the oil
screen is an incentive for going over to the dark (right) side. Mine
was plugged like a storm sewer. It's pretty easy to do, just make
sure you have the gasket kits handy in case they rip. I was able to
reuse mine. Just make sure when you remove the clutch housing the
clutch lever is turned counter clockwise as far as it will go (after
removing the cable of course). This releases the clutch mech that's
attached to that housing. Oh I remember doing this in Feb...and the
motorcycle magazines suggest the doo might just be a myth...bunch of
hooey. My brother's bike had catastrophic failure from that spring
and bits and piece jamming...ruined a 2-week Baja with those snake-
eyes. Good luck and email Jeff or I if you get need help...we've
been there done that. Personally, I wouldn't leave ANY soldier
behind. I'd find every piece.
