Thats exactly how mine looks except I cut the collar in half ( making it thinner, because I like full width grips) because the set screws didn't grab anything anyway... I just "pressed" the collar over the flange of the throttle sleeve, and figured if it slipped, I'd epoxy it, it hasn't.

I have the NEP as I did on my last bike too. I have 70K mi on the ZG1000 and it works fine. Works fine on the KLR. I recommend the CC3 model as it has a flat plate/bracket (v/s the one or two 'fingers' of the other models) and using a spacer/washer between it and the throttle housing makes it work well . Simpler to install than the CC2, with drilling a small hole in the housing and bracket (bracket is plastic and part of the lock plastic casting) using a short sheet metal screw. Put a Vista-Cruise throttle lock on the 2001 KLR this weekend. I used the one designed for dual cables (Kawasaki pre-1982). Took about 45 minutes, and had to fabricate a small foot out of a small "L" braacket. I removed the bottom of the throttle cable housing and drilled a 1/8" hole to attach the the foot to. then I used a self tapping metal screw. After running the screw all the way in, I then backed it out and cut of about 1/4" of it. This keeps it from rubbing on the throttle cable shoe. This really makes a great installation and works great. It looks great too. Now all I need to do is paint the metal foot I fabricated and the screw black to match the housing. No lose of grip space like with a Vista Universal mount. If anyone wants further info on it, e-mail me. Ride Hard Ride Safely Bob Veatch Umatilla, OR

J-B Weld will hold a throttle lock on also. Its also good for sealing the holes in the throttle housing. Harry Thames South Carolina

Anyone on the list use a throttle lock on their KLR? I'm wondering just how they work, where you get them, etc? Seems to me that there are likely some inherent safety issues. Anyone have any experience or thoughts on these? Mike [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
