what's that squeak?
It's coming from the motor. I just got it back from the dealer and
they adjusted the valves. Now it has this annoying squeal/squeak as
it revs up or revs down past about 3K rpms. Grrrr....

Before you commit to a V Strom, an excellent bike, take a look at the new Versys, only a 650, but goes like hell-NOT an off-road bike, but KLR-Versys is the perfect combination in my book. Have 1500 fun miles on my Versys and it handles well, smooth, parallel twin, goes well over 100mph, get same mpg as KLR about 50, can't fault it.
Machog.

Figgered it out... There is a missing rubber doughnut on which the
fuel tank rests. The right one is missing which allows the tank to
cant and rub against the metal cable protector thingy that is on the
left side of the frame just aft of the steering head bearing. The
left side of the tank saddle was grinding against the steel sheath
producing a squeal between 2,500 and 3,000 rpms.
