I am happy to see that Kawi is at least trying to address that segment of the market. I don't see a rear luggage carrier (I could be wrong). Yah, it's a Wee-strom competitor. There's some folks here who have a Wee-Strom *and* a KLR, and will tell ya that a Wee-Strom is a great street bike, and will handle light gravel okay, but is no substitute for a KLR.

I've seen one at the shop i deal with...nice looking bike and I'm sure would be a good match for the wee-storm but it definitely has sportbike spec rims and tires, not sure of the sizes but definitely wide enough that I wouldn't want to even venture on a loose gravel road with one....have a great weekend ....greg

Seems to me there are too many out there comparing the KLR to the wrong kinds of motorbike. A really big part of the KLR character is the thumper. By this definition it can be compared to the DR650, XR650, F650 and Husky 610. Are there any other "big" singles out there? Comparing it to any twin is not really a comparison. I put this in the same vein as the recent SUV commercial that says "better 0-60 than a BMW, more ashtrays than a VW, bigger windshield wiper fluid bottle than a Mercedes" I think you can get the picture. The 650 single has endearing qualities that no other type of bike can match. But then, so do the V twins, parallel twins, flat twins, fours and so on. Those of you who move over from a KLR to a v strom or the new "Versys" aren't comparing apples to apples., unless its not apples you're comparing.
