Anyone interested in a Saturday Lunch Ride? I heard of a neat place, We can all meet there for lunch. Ride to the destination from where you live, chat with fellow WDSRCers, and have lunch! Ride your dual sports or ride your street bikes. Fun for all! I heard of this place through our friends with the Orange County Cruisers! Come on, take a break from bustin berms, and bust some bratwursts..... 1st Ever WDSRC Destination Ride! Destination: Yalaha German Bakery, Yalaha, Florida. From there it'll be time to explore the highest point peninsula Florida: Sugar Loaf Mountain...where it is I don't know but it's in the neighborhood so we'll find it! Yalaha is located just south of Leesburg, FL and just west of Howey-In-The-Hills, FL. So it's convinient for everybody from Gainesville, Merrit Island, Orlando, Daytona, Lakeland, Tampa, Brooksville, Ocala. Let's do lunch! Anyone interested, ol' Swampy's willing to pick folks up along the way! Swampy's first stop: 7-eleven Ridge Road/Moonlake Rd, New Port Richey 0800 second stop: Waffle House SR50/I-75 0900ish. Well this Saturday I am heading out to Monterey for the KART Indy-Style Grand Prix. A little over 200 miles from Bakersfield. There are plenty of good roads to ride in this area. I will give the 39t sprocket it's first true test also my new mesh jacket. I will try to keep rpm's down to get best gas milage.A report will follow. Went for my Saturday Ride. I decided to visit Harry in Julian,CA about 262 mile from Bakersfield. Harry is hosting a Tech week-end in Julian for a few of us. By the way it was a pleasure meeting you Harry and you were right about Romano's, meatball sandwich superb. Back to the ride. Total miles: 523 speed: 70-80 mainly 75 mph mileage: 55mpg I have been riding for 42 years and have not ridden a better solo touring bike,very smooth.great gas mileage and enough power for my needs. We sure are. I have had mine sine April 10,2002,bought it new. I have 7000 miles on it and the only disappoint that I have is the original tires, worn-out at 1500 miles. I have Kenda Challengers,$74 per set, and they hardly show wear. Maybe if I find a broken doohickey I would feel a little different but even so it seems to be a good fix that Jke has presented to us. Went on about a 5 hour ride through the desert. A very old and non maintained dirt road which seemed to be a lot more good sized rocks then dirt. Today my upper back hurts, particularly the back of my shoulders. I must be a wussy! The bike sounded like it was gonna come apart going over all those rocks. Can't really find anything loose that would cause those sounds. Both my older Yamaha XT350, and my Honda XL500 sounded like more well put together. Ya know, more sturdy sounding. It seems something is always going wrong with the KLR. Nothing really serious, but still. I'm tempted to safety wire the whole darn thing. Seems to me the front end was bottoming out hitting all those rocks. I've got the progressive springs installed. Might need to do something more.

I have just returned from a Saturday 300 mile ride. I left Bakersfield CA about 9am headed for Santa Barbara and Montecieto (spelling ) via highway 33. At lake Casitas 4 doe crossed in front of me and jumped a six foot fence easily clearing it by two foot. The ride was very relaxing with two lanes most of the way until I arrived at highway 101. On the way home I took 126 to I-5 and stopped at Ventura Pier for ice cream. The bike performed great. I ride with a small handlebar mount fairing. 16t front sprocket, 65 mpg at 55-60 mph. Thanks TC

Blake, Yes - headlight conversion kit. The HID setup has both hi and low in the single bulb - which fits in the stock headlight socket. The wiring loom is complete with plug-n-play connections. I had the 400 watt stator but decided I had heard too many lack of reliability problems, so I went with HID and replaced all other lights with LEDs. If info and my calculations are correct I should be able to run the HID headlight, grip heaters, GPS, and AutoComm intercom system all at the same time on the stock stator.
