aftermarket fairing?

Has anbody used the rear plastic guards that are for sale E-Bay? Big price difference from the guards for sale from Happy Trails. The guards on E-Bay are from San Diego and about half the price of others. These are guards that protect the rear side panels and the exhaust from your saddle bags rubbing on them.

I just received mine yesterday and they look good. I will install them this weekend and let you know. The price was too good to not try. jn

Received them in three days, well packed with bolts required to install. I installed them today, fit and finish is very good and they will work fine for soft luggage. I wouldn't hesitate to order them again espically for the money. jn

I sent some comments earlier, but they didn't go through - forgive me if this ends up a double post. I installed these tonight. Simple to install, it took some PB Blaster to get the passenger footrest bolts loose but after that it was easy. I'm disappointed that the right body panel can't be removed with the rack in place. The left body panel comes off and installs ok, but the right one is closer to the bike and so the the body panel can't squeeze in or out. Is this typical for side racks? Being half the price of HT units, it sounds like the racks might be Chinese knock offs. I have the Happy Trails SU racks and my side panels come off without removal of the racks. The exhaust side takes some wiggling but it comes off. When it comes to after market accessories, you're better of buying the stuff made in the States. Costs more but it top notch. You can drill a hole on each side so you don't need to take the sides off when you need to take off your seat. -Bobby

Use a nole saw to drill the side panels for access to the seat bolts, and slot the tabs on the seat. Ur, if your seat fits as tightly as my Corbin, leave the seat bolts off altogether, perhaps using some velcro between the seat and frame (although I have not found that necessary).

My rear plastic covers come off with the HT racks installed. Sounds like your racks are not designed properly. Have you considered adding some washers as shims? Another option might be to drill holes in your side covers so that the seat bolts are accessible with the covers in place.
