Hi all,
I just came back from gettig my new MEFO's installed, rode about 10
miles. The left side of the swingarm end appears to be missing the
endcap and fastener nut. The chain adujuster bolt is bent outside. I
assume the left side is supposed to look the same as the right. Am I
missing something? It looks like my mechanic dropped the ball and the
keeper plate.
What do you think?
Should the L & R ends of the swingarm look the same?
Thanks,
Big Al

Yes Al, the ends should look the same. Yes you lost 3 parts: the two nuts and the end cap (one nut if you're using nylocks). Because the chain adjuster bolt is bent you will need to replace that part as well. In all the years I've ridden that has never happened to me. I do my own maintenance, its something I check before a ride so it's never happened. Odds are the mechanic forgot to lock the second nut onto the first, letting them vibrate off. If the dealer changed the tires the service order should show the mileage. I'd call the dealer and state that within 10 miles after leaving the dealership these parts were missing. A good dealer won't try to back out of responsibility. A good dealer will take the hit and make good. If its a bad dealer and you want to make something of it, before doing anything establish the chain of evidence to show the bike in your driveway, with the problem and with only the additional 10 miles since leaving the dealer. Something like this, getting even would be to make sure Kawasaki and any local consumer groups had your complaint and then get your money back in Small Claims. Small Claims there are no lawyers and its just a judge that would decide the validity of your claim based on the damage occuring in the 10 miles of the adjusters being loosened to mount the tire. Odds are the judge won;t think much of any other explanations. Pat G'ville, NV Motorycling, no known cure> > Hi all, > I just came back from gettig my new MEFO's installed, rode about 10 > miles. <><><><><><><><><> <><><><><><><><><> Jeff, The tire wizard is a tool for removing and replacing tires. I don't think it's available anymore. I found mine used a few years ago. I has 5 pages of instructions. Yes, that is not a misprint. 5 Pages. This is the first trip I've ever taken it on and it was pretty handy for breaking the beads on the D606. But I think Steve's large tire irons would have handled the job ok too. It's kind of heavy for what it does but if you have a tight bead I think the weight would be worth it. It works as advertised.
