Hi,
I'm curious,
On my '84 KLR250 I bought for parts, the cylinder looks a little
weird, to me. It is somewhat scored, but, there are 4 areas that are
scored the worst, all equally spaced. It is at the bottom of the
sleeve. On the outside of the sleeve, it is obvious it got hot in
those spots, and softened the metal (it turned brownish). But, the
person I bought it from will bore it out for me. Is it still useable,
with the heat damage (for lack of a better term)? The piston is toast.

skills building
Just rode the KLR aggressively for the first time since Its birthday
(two months ago). Did ok in some areas, did horrible in others. on the
standard old mining trails it held its own. Jumps fairly well, lands
hard while bottoming out the suspension. The most trouble is on soft
sand or soft gravel in the dry wash areas. In these areas it feels
like I am riding on a roadbed of marbles.( I am in the Las Vegas /
South-west U.S. area.
Only laid it over 4 times today..However, it was some very agressive
riding and I am still building my skills riding cross terrain and up
the side of mountains.
I think my next big mod will be improving the spring rates on the
front and rear suspension.
Any other Las Vegas region KLR riders out there?
If it ain't scratched...you ain't ridin.
