Couldn't agree more, Matt. I live in Colorado and there isn't a month that I don't do at least a bit of klring. I started with a Widder vest then a friend recommended adding the gloves. He said that they would extend the ridding season; he was right. Can't ride when there's snow on the roads but most of the time they're clear. It's a wonderful feeling to cruise down a mountain highway - toasty warm - surrounded by snow a covered landscape. The dirt roads are more problematic in the Winter. Bogdan

Heated grips, gloves and vests enhance safety. instead of thinking about how cold you are or what muscle is cold and cramping you ride. Not complex at all. Granted you do want to use common sense and not go wide open on the heated gear and kill the KLRs rather anemic charging system. Mod-er-ation This is the setup I am using on the KLR and FJR to distribute power to the electical devices I run: http://www.fjrtech.com/getdbitem.cfm?item=25 Thanks to Mr. Dale Wilson - Warchild for all he does... I've run this setup on an FJR and KLR for several years with zero issues. Basically it is an electrical barrier strip you connect the accessories up to which is connected directly to the battery via a fuse an a relay. All parts available at Radio Shack for under $10. Dead nuts reliable, cheap and simple. Just the way I like em. Jim

Ditto on the heated gear and I cannot imagine running mine at more than about 50%, even on 20 degree New England 'Spring' days, so hopefully that won't over tax the KLR but I have a voltmeter just in case :-) Another neat distribution method is the Blue Sea fuse panel, available at a West Marine near you. http://tinyurl.com/83m6x Regards Andy

Hey Bob I had an A2 1984, got paranoid about the doohicky to find it was immaculate. It was also a different shape to the on from Fred. BTW it was a KL600 and not that I am sure, perhaps some one can enlighten us, but it was like a prototype to the now KLR 650. Great Bike mine had 17,000 miles and I see it around and get wound up as I have not got a replacement. Martin
