klr650 engine clutch cover

Post by jluyben21 » Thu Feb 02, 2006 12:22 am

I had a little too much fun last weekend... Do anyone have or know where I can find a deal on an engine clutch cover as well as the water pump (I think) cover. My rear brake decided to put a hole in it. You can email me direct @ james@... It is for a 2005 KLR650. Thanks.

tech day at mike's . . .

Post by geobas » Thu Feb 02, 2006 9:58 am

Good morning Saturday the 28th Mike and Buddy held Tech Day down at Mike's Shop. It is amazing how much can get done with the right instructions and the correct tools. Mike and Buddy are super generous in suppling both. It was well attended and I took some photos unfortunately I'm dumb and can't figure out how to download them to Yahoo Group. If you send me an email geobas@... I'll send you the photos. My camera is isn't the greatest so all the individuals in the photos are actually better looking, taller and smarter than they appear. It was interesting to see all the KLR parts that Mike's makes in his machine shop. He doesn't just talk parts, he makes them. George Escondido, CA

How big is the hole? I have used Quick Steel on engine cases and it works very well. There is also now Quick Aluminum that more closely matches engine cases color. You could also have this welded but it depends on where the hole is and how large. Fred www.arrowheadmotorsports.com

I followed the advice of the list to quik steel my clutch cover when I dumped it into a curb and put a 3"x.25" crack in it. It's held up for over a year, 8000 miles, a freeway slide, and a bunch of banging around in the dirt. Don't waste your money until you try the epoxy! The stuff is magic. erik
