I think you will get more for your money doing suspension mods like
progressive springs and / or fork emulators on the front and different
spring or go more bucks for the rear shock Fred at Arrowhead sells. I
have a Big Gun Race that I run sometimes and I think really you just
get noise that sometimes makes you think you are faster. I also did the
Dyna Jet where you drill the slide (helps throttle response), change
the main jet (forgot which it has been so long), and drill the plug out
of the pilot jet adjustment. I think I turned that out 2 and 1/2 turns.
The jet kit was an improvement. Stainless steel brake lines are worth
doing and or a larger front rotor like the MAP or the super trick one
CA Stu put on his. I forgot the name of his rotor.

From what I've been reading so far, the KLR does nothing much with these
 upgrades.

Nothing much positive. This has been verified with tests. You do get more
noise and a significant reduction in MPG. I'd just turn the pilot screw out
some. The sweet spot method worked for me.

Criswell's right on the mark. The DynaJet kit helped throttle
response a bit, and between that and backing out the pilot adjuster I
got rid of a lean surge. The best places to spend money on a KLR are
front suspension and brakes, and if you ride offroad, a real skid pan
and maybe some real hand guards (and move the license plate up). I've
never had an aftermarket exhaust on mine, don't want the noise,
prefer a stealthy passage over the river and thru the woods.

400lb motorcyle + one cylinder engine + rider = you are not gonna get
much "umph" out of the KLR unless you strap the space shuttle to the
 luggage rack.

I have 0 experience with any can except the Lazer produro Offroad " not forest approved ". To say very, very, very, pleased with it is a understatement. Research the archives and think about maintenance. It is said that after airbox mods, dynojet, and lazer install, you will get a 3 to 4 horse gain. I agree. Don't expect neck snapping power. NOT happening. You do get a whole lot of 1st gear oops " Damn I didn't think I gave it that much gas ". If your running a D606 tire. Air it down to 27psi so it can grip the street and not spin on top of it. Think of adding 30 horsepower to your car or truck. You'll notice a change in power but your still not fast. The Jardine I have no info, On the Supertrapp my research found the Lazer Offroad has slightly more power, maybe 1 whole horse. Some posters removed their Supertrapps after assorted problems. Do some research. For me I chose maximum power with 0 ,I repeat, 0 maintenance. So what if it's expensive, it's also expensive looking, sounds great, never have to repack it or work on it, and I know where the generic sections are at wal-mart. Almost forgot the mileage part. I have seen as low as 32 and as high as 46, with 38 to 44 the norm. I usually always have a passenger on back and when she's not, then I'm a throttle jockie. Now you have another opinion to ponder, PLUS!: Everytime a new poster mentions modding the exhaust, A select few want to press their priority's on others and switch the subject to suspension. Your priority is exhaust. That's apparent because your asking about exhaust. Good Luck and enjoy the bike. It's a fine machine.

Just bought new 06 KLR650 and I really like it so far, just wish it
had a little more grunt. This is a first post for me. I've owned 2
XR650L's in the past. They were great bikes and took well to
modifications. I would like to know if anyone can tell me if I should
really invest the money to do the usual Airbox, Jetting, Exhaust
upgrades that I've always done on all my other bikes? From what I've
been reading so far, the KLR does nothing much with these upgrades. I
hope to hear that this is false. If so, can someone recommend a good
slip-on. I love the big gun but don't want to spend that type of money
if the gain won't be significant? JardineRT four VS Supertrapp ISD2???
Any Info would be much appreciated. I will be sure to post my findings
on this bike as I start to get into it. Thanks. Erik

fog lamps on forks
Has anyone used Moto-light on their KLR650? I'm thinking about going
 that route.
