diesel klr coming in march 2006
I just got their email newsletter with updates on this bike. This is directly from their email: "PRICE: The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price for the D650-A1LE Bulldog will be $18,999.00 (the price is subject to change until the opening of our initial offer to sell and some restrictions may apply.) A non-refundable deposit of 10% of the purchase price will be required to hold your bike. The balance will be due on presentation of documentation and notice that the unit is ready for shipment. For our customer's protection, deposits will be refunded if HDTUSA is unable to deliver their motorcycle." - Rich> -----Original Message----- > From: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com > [mailto:DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of sergio de oliveira > Sent: Wednesday, November 16, 2005 10:16 AM > To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com > Subject: Re: [DSN_KLR650] Diesel KLR Coming in March 2006 > > I'm been searching for the price on the web, no result. > I guess that going be a small fortune. > I'll like to know the price of that baby. > > Sergio A14 >

I did get in touch w/ someone who sell the parts removed for the miliatry conversion.
   He's answer was the following:

That is the company that I get the parts from. They just released the price for there 1st limited collectors run of diesel bikes. the MSRP on them is $18,999. Kinda pricy but still a cool bike. They are only releasing about 200 for this first run. The price is supposed to come down on the full out production models but this first run is basically the full military bike made avalible to the public. This first run is supposed to be the only time the actual military version will be made availible to the public.

Yea, but 0-60 times over 10 seconds?

So every Kia in the lineup will pull me away from a red light? Not worth a 600 mile range. Besides, I doubt I'm a threat to ride that far without stopping anyway.
The US Marine version looks better, but MPG and 0-60 are about the same as my KLR.

It's my understanding that the $18k will be for the nice USMC KLR, not the
 "normal" one.

I could be wrong, the day is still young,

$19,000 for a diesel KLR? Get serious. It is likely the same bike with a different top end on the motor, and perhaps different gearing. If it were available, I would be willing to pay $1000-$1500 above list for a standard KLR.

Yes, I do much prefer diesels. I have a Dodge pickup with the Cummins diesel. But $19,000 for the KLR? Get serious.

If that 0-60 of 10 seconds is true, then I would call it a dangerous bike. I wouldn't want to ride a pig like that on the street.
