klr 600 1st and 2nd gear in a klr650 ??

I got a surprise on my way in to work this morning: I passed a motorcycle trooper on the shoulder of I-90 (westbound into Bellevue, WA) dressed all in black, even with a black helmet, on an all-black bike. It was still pretty dark out and he was partly obscured behind the end of a guard rail, so even though I am always watching the shoulders ahead, I didn't see him until I was less than 150 feet away. Some reflective fabric on the forearms of his suit was the first thing I noticed. If I had been speeding, I'd have been nailed for sure, although I think he was actually looking for HOV lane cheaters rather than speeders. He gave me a wave as I went by. But that's something new to watch out for. Have the troopers started using this stealth mode anywhere else? Dreas

In PA they dress in full hunting camo, hide in the trees with radar guns and radio to a trooper waiting ahead. Walt

NJ used their regular uniforms when reinstating bikes for the Troopers for the first time in about 40yrs. So many of them got hit by cars while doing traffic stops in the first two months they halted the program. I wish them luck wearing all black like that....

Doesn't bother me either. You adjust to it and don't think about it. I can't begin to tell you how much I value the lower 1st gear. Not only on some gnarly uphill climb - parking lots, U-turns, everywhere. Bogdan
