And if you want your donations to buy Pat Robertson some mining
equipment for his South African diamond mines there is " Operation
Blessing" who also gets our tax dollars from FEMA and endorsed by
BUSH. What a racket.

Hi Eric.
I believe Scott's main point was that the damage is done. Let's do something instead of bashing and pointing fingers, and arguing amoungst ourselves. Your point about this country not being like it was 40 years ago is a different issue. By the way, I agree with you totally. It is obvious there have been some changes that are holding us back. My thoughts on that;
1. Why can't we go in a whip a few 3rd world "dipsticks" with AK47's
MY OPINION - War now has to be politically correct, and humane. How many times have you seen a bunch of "towel heads" standing around on the news waving their AK47's in the air with anti-America signs.
CURE - That's easy, when you have them all crowded together, drop a bomb. Or if you know there are a bunch held up somewhere, get the women and children out, leave, and drop bomb.
2. Why can't we get a shuttle off the ground without it blowing up?
MY OPINION - Cost savings
CURE - Stop buying inferior material from 3rd world countries, and make people here responsible for the quality of their work.
3. Why do we need a bunch of paperwork before we can do something to help those who obviously need it?
MY OPINION - Lawyers
CURE - Judges that throw out lawsuits that are ridiculous, and make re-embersment what it shoud be. Not 6 digit figures.
I like what you said about kicking people in the pants for saying it can't be done. It can be done, and sometimes it takes a few screwups to make it work. Just keep at it.
I think that liberalist thinking is destroying our nation.
I know many will find many reasons to pick apart this posting. But it is just my opinion, and it won't change the world. But if you look at what's going on in businesses today, you have to admit, it has to be at least "partly" true.
Best

Well, the problem is that in the past, disasters of this sort WERE handled better. But that was back when the United States was a can-do nation, that could win the greatest war this world has ever seen, build the Interstate highway system, and send a man to the moon. Nowdays we can't win a war against a bunch of dipstick pray'n'spray insurgents in Iraq, our highways are crumbling, and our Shuttle won't fly without pieces falling off of it. Now it seems that all anybody wants to do is parse legalities and make excuses for why things can't be done. I kick the rear of any of my subordinates who whine that something is impossible, and I sure don't want to hear it from my politicians that things are impossible, I want them to DO it, dadburn it! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? "Liberalist thinking" won World War II and created the Interstate Highway System and took this nation to the Moon and did a number of good things in this nation's past. "Liberalist thinking" is that we are a great nation, we can do any bleepin' thing we set our hands to, and by god don't give us excuses as to why things can't be done, tell us how you're going to do it and what we need to do to help! Don't tell me that we, the richest nation on the face of this earth, can't provide medical care to each and every American. Tell us, the American people, how it can be done, what you need from us, and then let's do it! Don't tell me that we, the greatest nation on the face of this earth, can't do something about the miserable educational system in the poorer states and inner cities. Tell us how it can be done, tell us what you need from us, then let's do it! By god, once we were a can-do nation, all this whiny excuse-making and finger-pointing and blame-mongering just drives me nuts. We're the greatest f'ing nation on the face of this Earth, by god don't tell me why we CAN'T do things, let's decide what we're going to do, what we need to do it, and then by god let's DO it! And if this "liberalist thinking" is an evil thing, then I guess that makes me a by-god evil person. All I know is that when the Republicans told FDR that he couldn't nationalize all U.S. industry to make the weapons needed to fight Hitler's evil because it was illegal, FDR told them to stuff it up their bungholes and did what it took to win this nation's greatest war. That's "liberalist thinking" -- that when people's lives are at stake, f*** the law. Do what it takes to save people's lives. Then worry about the legal stuff *later*. Because if it's a choice between a person's life and some dusty piece of paper in a courthouse somewhere, I by god know where *my* priorities lay, and it ain't on the side of the whiny excuse-makers. And if that thinking, that we're the greatest nation on this planet and can do anything we put our minds to do, is "liberalist thinking", then, by god, count me a liberal. -E>I like what you said about kicking people in the pants for saying it can't be done. Eric,
I think you've got me confused with someone else...I
wasn't making excuses - I was talking about how
sickening the Monday Morning quarterbacking has been -
people pointing fingers and acting like they could do
it so much better...which is just a bunch of hot air
since this country hasn't been faced with a disaster
of this scope in our or our parents' lifetime.
Nothing worse than a bunch of windbags spouting
nothing but nonsense...blah, blah blah...
Your so-called "get it done" is just empty, hollow
words!!!!
It IS GETTING DONE...just because it's not within your
fictitious, TOTALLY UNREALISTIC timetable doesn't mean
it's not happening.
Get a (REAL) life...
Respectfully,
Scott

nklr stupid bush quote of the day
I've worked disaster medical relief for 20 years, including the summer of 94
in Rwanda. Although relief for the Gulf "is getting done," it was initiated
far later than needed be. It took three days for those in positions of
leadership to seriously address this crisis, as it took three days for them
to publicly mention the tsunami in Asia and offer an initial $15 million
aid. The entire concept of disaster relief begins when we first realize the
potential for disaster, which is the foundational premise of all
non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
There is accountability at all levels of management with regards to
anticipation and preparation. There is in addition separate accountability
for the incompetence of our initial response, and although we may each chose
where to place this accountability, every relief organization on the planet
will confirm that it indeed exists.
We are motorcycle riders. Those with far more experience will sift through
the evidence and report what the facts are. I personally find it painful
that we choose to attack each other.
