Hi All, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's broken the plastics on the KLR. In my case I've snapped off the peg on the left rad fairing that connects up to the tank. The ziptie holding it on now is MacGuyver and does the trick but I'd still like to get it back together. I tried using a bit of epoxy (the brand escapes me at the moment) and as soon as I tried to reinstall the fairing after it had cured the glue snapped. I figure I need something a bit heavier duty, maybe with a bit of flex that'll bond well. It doesn't have to look pretty because it's on the inside face, but it should be strong. Any suggestions or methods that you've tried? Cheers! Wes

I lost those tabs in the first 400 miles. So I cut them off completely and riveted a "L" shaped piece of metal on instead and refastened the rad fairings to their original location. Have not had problems since (30,000 miles). This solution does leave two rivets showing on the outside of each rad fairing. Puffer

Actually that sounds like something I was thinking of doing myself. How did you connect the L bracket to the grommet on the tank? Do you have any pics of the connection? Cheers! Wes --- dspuffer wrote:

Fixed mine by drilling where the tab used to be, then using a 1/4" bolt c/w nylock nut and an 'L' shaped bracket, and a piece of fuel line as a spacer on the bolt. Ed
