Hi All,
My 99 KLR get a loud buzz at 4200rpm +- 100rpm. When I touch the back
of the blub it goes away. I think the ring the blub fits in that is
mounted on the reflector housing is loose. I have tried 2 aftermarket
blubs same thing. Any ideas ?
Thanks,
James

More likely, the plastic protector thingy is buzzing. Dunno what it's called, but if you put some duct tape between it and the cowling, the buzz goes away. -E> Hi All, > My 99 KLR get a loud buzz at 4200rpm +- 100rpm. My bet is the lower head light bracket split. You'll have to remove front fairing to check. It,s in the middle of head lite on the bottom. Both of mine cracked, just broke the ends off and used the side bolts to hold head light. Dan> goes away. > > -E

I've read that before on this group - the plastic protector thing - but I've had
mine out, fairing and w/s off and mine still has this terrible buzzing at around
3500. It's definitely something to do with the headlight. I've managed to
reduce the buzzing a little by wrapping insulation tape around those little
plastic nuts at the top and bottom of the headlight. It's definitely a huge PO
having that buzzing - something's gotta give.

headlight buzz
Greetings, just read this and recall having the same issue w/ my
A16. Check the headlight adjuster screw and the related metal
bracket / spring on the right side of headlight. Seems to me I
installed a rubber piece to take care of the nasty buzz. Can't
recall exactly what I did, but this is where I solved it at one
time. Also check the headlight band / bracket on the top of the head
light. A piece of duct tape in the right spot may do it. Doesn't
buzz like that anymore, but my taller windshield makes a bit of
noise, even after I have installed rubber on the mounts on it too,
but I don't get the "tinny" metallic buzz you are talking about.
My current beater helmet (an old Fulmer) rattles a lot so I don't
hear much from the bike, but I do know the headlight bracket doesnt'
buzz anymore.
If you wanted everything to be quiet, you may not have the right
bike.
Good luck, Todd
