#1. Ken, you made some good points. #2. I can't imagine how one would go about NOT learning at least something from this list; I've had to keep buying larger 3-ring notebooks to contain all the excellent tips and procedures I've acquired from reading the posts, and asking questions. (I should have just bought the huge 4" notebook in the first place.) #3. I feel safe in saying this list is not ever going to be only KLR discussions, and nothing else. This is a large community, and all kinds of topics are going to come up. (A while back there was a big thread on making the ultimate off-road shopping cart! ) But, what is done - or SHOULD be done - is to include "NKLR" in the subject line, meaning the post is off-topic. Then just filter out those messages, if you want. In Outlook Express, it will be TOOLS / MESSAGE RULES / MAIL / NEW and then just put NKLR as the Subject to filter for, and move it to Deleted Items, or whatever you might want to do with them. You won't see the extraneous stuff, but will still benefit from the collective knowledge of the list. To be honest, I enjoy the banter and goofing around every bit as much as I do the KLR specific posts. Stu, RM and a number of others write "sign-off signatures" that, alone, make the message worth reading. But, each to his own, I guess... Wise men still seek Him... I might be wrong but I don't believe civilians can buy magazines larger than 10rds for carbines either. This may have changed again recently so I don't know for sure. Maybe you do. Any confirmed info on the subject?

I believe that with the expiration of the Clinton Gun Ban, the restriction on 10rnd+ magazines (they are not called clips!!) has been lifted. In fact, the possesion or purchase of magazines larger than 10 rnds was never restricted. Only the importation of newly manufactured magazines were affected. I bought 13 rnd magazines, new in the box, for my Sig Sauer during the Clinton Gun Ban. They were legal because they manufactured and imported prior to the ban becoming active.

With the recent sunsetting of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban (AWB), there is no Federal barrier to civilians buying, owning and/or using magazines of any capacity for any firearm. I am always hilariously entertained by the number of pre-ban magazines being hawked at gunshows. Most of these magazines looked suspiciously shiny . As the saying goes, "the only gun control that works is the kind where you use both hands." -E
