I agree 100%. I think that most of us (myself included) have been fooled by our KLRs into thinking that they are slower than they actually are - because the power is spread out over a wide RPM range.

Please understand this: I did NOT say the KLR doesn't work for me. It is too early to tell, to be thruthful. It seems there are those most willing to bash it (unjustly) and owners (current or previous) more willing to over-embellish it. I know all too well about the usable power. The CR500 in this arrid terrain has little of it and equivalent rider on a XR200 could give me a run for my money. My bud has a YZ450F and can regularly pull me. However, when hit pavement, its the other way around. So, please, I neither rule the two wheel world nor suck at it. I have never ridden a sportbike, but would bet money the KLR would fall behind (on pavement with equally talented riders). I look forward to loving my Camry...er KLR. It just takes a little time to adjust from the testosterone induced crotch rockets or race bikes. Besides, my wife thinks it is the last bike I'll ever buy, so it wasn't an impulse buy. Please also note I'm at 6,200 feet and all stock (no high alt jet) and limited to 4k so far. Troy A19 Castle Rock, CO
