The train is cool, but so is riding. Most everywhere the train goes, there's a dirt or asphalt road beside the train track. There's a very limited view of the canyons from the train and the train doesn't go into the canyons. (The best part of any Copper Canyon motorcycle adventure.) IMHO, trains are cool, but dirt riding on the KLR is cooler. Especially, in a place like Copper Canyon. --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "nakedwaterskier" wrote:

Are you saying that you can ride along side the train tracks? Say from El Fuerte to Creel? Imagine racing the train across one of the bridges or through a tunnel. Wild! This brings up another point. Can you ride on railroad ties? George Escondido, CA baltopilas wrote:

Naw, you can't ride along the railroad tracks all the way to El Fuerte. You can however ride dirt all the way to El Fuerte. I've ridden railroad tracks, it's fairly easy and very illegal. It would take a cast iron set to ride over some of those bridges :)

I bought a Nikon Coolpix 8800. 8MP and a vibration controlled, 10X zoom. Much more money (as cheap as $775US online), but has allowed me to take shots previously out of range. It's probably more than most people want, but if you are "into" digital photography, it's the next level that I've waited for. I really like the Canon models, but couldn't ignore a compact camera with such a BIG LUMP sticking out front! For once I believe bigger is better ! And a magnesium body to provide an interesting light show if I fall off the KLR with it. The downside is the price and the size..it's too big to fit in a pocket. Steve
