I went to a dealer where my A7 was purchased new - well - 10 years
ago and explained the problem I was having with the doohickey. I
explained the pieces (as my spring came un-glued as well) and how
crappy the factory unit is. I was nice and wanted to hear their
stories of woe. The service guy got shirty with me and said he's
NEVER heard of a failure. He then went on to tell me they move 8-10
KLR650s/month, selling all of them before they even make it to the
showroom, and that he's NEVER seen a problem, acting like I was nuts.
I told him that literally thousands of loyals have had problems
and/or had to replace them, and that indeed he DOES have a problem
(me) standing before him - telling him about it. What a douche!!! I
aksed him if there was another place around that knew how to properly
service his bikes and told him that I wouldn't even trust buying an
oil filter from him from now on. It wasn't even that he was trying to
protect his product - just a rude idiot. The name is Cliff's Cycle in
Bremerton, Washington and I'd recommend staying well clear of that
place. I went to the local Honda Yamaha dealer for the puller - where
they knew all about it!! Scary
