Dear "ghost",
One of my hobbies is finding used kids' bikes (50-80cc) and fixing them up for local kids who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford them or get introduced into the great sport of mortorcycling. Some of the bikes I have to pay for and some are just donated, but as you can imagine most of them are in pretty sad shape. Usually they've been sitting in someones garage or barn for AWHILE, and in "original" condition- which means they're exactly like they were the day jr forgot to mix oil with the gas and locked-up the engine (or some other neglect induced senario). Anyway, (sorry for rambling) I've had great success with a product called SeaFoam for un-gumming carbs and fuel systems. It's available at most parts stores. Mix it about 4:1 with fresh gas (4 parts gas, 1 part SeaFoam) I know that sounds like a stout mixture, but it's mostly petroleum distilates and I've never had it harm any bike I've used it on (2 or 4 stroke). It even worked on an '84 Goldwing that had sat for 4 years- it
wouldn't run worth a crap even after trying "premium" carb cleaner additives and Marvel Mystery Oil. Ran a quarter tank of Seafoam gas through the bike and it cleared right up without ever having to remove the carbs (which is a total bitch on a Goldwing). Just got back from a trip to Colorado on that same Goldwing.
Guys, please don't kick me off the list for taking or mentioning the trip to CO on the'Wing instead of the KLR, but for some weird reason my wife prefers the Couchwing to the A18 for the I-70 ride across Kansas, (those of you who've been there know what I'm talkin' about).

Subject: Sping tune-up in the fall questions.
Hi All, My question is, After letting my bike sit for right at a year
it doesn't want to keep running more than a few seconds, then dies. I
Made a mistake in leaving just a little gas (on reserve) So I guess I
gummed up the carb. Not real mechanically inclined So I'm nervous
about just tearing into the carb. To top it off I'm short on funds so
taking it to the shop is out. What would be somethings I could try
first. And if I have to clean out the jets, is it easy to srew things
up.
