Has anyone tried the Dunlop D604 ? I have always been partial to Dunlops (don't know why) but I won't buy them if they are not good or don't last. Bob L Manchester, NH

I had one on for about 2,000 miles. I took it off because I didn't like the relatively poor grip. It would skid easily even on dry asphalt. The tire hardly shows any wear after 2K miles, a additional indication that the rubber compound is pretty hard. If you're looking for a long-wearing tire you might want to consider the D604, but I prefer traction to longevity. Dreas

I have D604 on front and back. On straight line stoping the D604 doesn't feel and better than stock. It skids/breaks loose the same. On cornering it doesn't break lose. I have about 3500 miles on both. The backs look half worn out and the fronts look new. On fire trails they work good. They don't work in snow or mud puddles. The front tire will sometimes break loose in corners.

Mark I'm using Dunlop D607 Trailmax tires. The D604 is obsolete and has been replaced by the D607. Only have road miles on them at this time so i can't report on trail use. They work great on the road. Because they are tubeless tires they have very stiff sidewalls and it's quite a job the get a new rear tire installed. If you have a flat while riding just continue to ride (carefully) on the flat making some turns and it will usually break the bead loose and you'll be able to get the tire off with tire irons. I use WD40 for chain lube and it works great as a tire lube in emergency situations. No problem of using a tube in a tubeless tire. Anyone using Dunlop D-604's on their klr? How does it work on and off road and how does it wear?

I have 604's on both ends of my A-17, and I really like them on the street, not so great off road, but I do most of my riding on the street and highway. They wear like iron, and grip like glue. I can run with the sportbikes with these babies. I really don't do much riding off road, some gravel and fire roads, with some minor trail riding but nothing too muddy or sandy. I rode from the Oregon Coast to Montana last summer on the stock tires, wore out the rear and made the center of the front fairly flat on that trip. Decided to put some more highway friendly treads on it for the trip home and couldn't have been happier. If you do much off road I'd recommend something else, but for the streets and highways, with some occasional off road use, the D-604's are pretty good. Scotty

They wear pretty darn good. In 24,000 miles I went through two rears, one front, and the stocker's. Believe it or not, I got 17,000 miles out of the front D-604. I ran these tires last year at the First Annual Sierra Nevada ride. I can't say they are the best off road, or that I'm very aggressive off road, but I didn't crash either. On the asphalt they work fine. I rode them in the rain, 110 degree heat and everything in between. Never had a problem and never had a flat. I did have two flats on the "stockers" though! I'm now running IRC GP-1's. I like these a lot on the road and plan on doing much more off road stuff from here on out. I think I'm going to stick with the GP1's. So if anybody's interested, I've got a brand spankin' new set (front and rear) of Dunlop 604's I wouldn't mind selling. I think I paid about $150. I'll sell them for $100 plus shipping. Otherwis, I'll just try my hardest to wear them out this winter. Ya right ;>) Matt --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "westnash1" wrote:

Caught them in the "past hour" link. Wow, that was fast! 4 whole frames?! Like 15 minutes of fame is now like 15 seconds! Good to see it's "been an adventure". Wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Just riding somewhere and coming back isn't a lot of fun. (well, it is, but for this letter) Now something happening along the way is what makes it worth while and it's that part that you'll remember forever! Can't wait to see the video!!! millerized --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "Jay Hummer" wrote:
