First just so you know I am an Electronics technician of 20+ years
All led's drop 0.7 volts in a foward biased direction, or in laymans
terms its a 0.7 volt dc, the rest of the voltage is usually dropped
by a resister in series (in line) with the LED. In this case the
voltage is dropped by the circuit driving the LED (inside the epoxy)
You should be able to go to your local electronics parts store (i.e.
Radio Shack) and purchase a tri-colored LED to replace it.
typically the package it comes in shows the correct lead connections
on the back.
Warning: LED's are sensitive to high heat, if you plan to solder the
connections do it very quickly or (better yet) clip a hemostat
tightly to the leads between the end you solder and the end with the
plastic case this will sink (draw) the heat away from the
semiconductor juction preventing damage while soldering.
if you need more help drop me an email or post another question I'll
keep an eye out for you!
