I have always carried emergency road service (ERS) or towing insurance on my cars, but find that my insurance carrier (American Family Ins.) doesn't offer it for motorcycles. It has typically been very cheap (about $5/year) for a car. For local riding, it's really not necessary, but I would like to have it for LDT. Does your insurance carrier offer it? AAA offers RV/MC coverage, I seem to remember it costs me an extra $29.00/yr and allows three tows/pickups per year of up to $200.00. They are supposed to provide flatbed carriers and the one time I have used it the service was good. If you are already an Auto Club member it seems to me like a good deal. I have MoTow through AMA; used it once and was very happy with the service. The dispatcher gives you an estimated time, and calls you back to make sure the tow truck has arrived. The tow truck driver had already called me to let me know that he was running about 15 minutes late. Rates are reasonable. Check with www.amadirectlink.com My AAA says that they do not tow motorcycles even with the "Plus" services. I gave up trying to figure out why some people have this service. I have just had a light bulb moment! Apparently the lady that I spoke to at AAA was from New Jersey and didn't know what the .....she was talking about. They claim they will pick me up but since the odds are slim to none that I will ever be in Jersey again on a bike or anything else it isn't much of a factor. last year (NOV) i called AAA (california) and they wouldn't tow my bike. They said they stop doing bikes because there were to many claims for damages during the tow (Harleys? Sportbikes?) I told them they could put my bike in the back of a dump truck and it wouldn't hurt it but they would go for it. I now have AMA moto-tow but they only cover 35 miles
