you must be kidding me ...............
i would really like to swap out my ken and barbie body work for the
2003 body work.i can get a tank and rad shrouds for $150.00. sounds
great so far. so i called the dealer for the remaining parts .......
rear fender..$57.75, side panels..$99.90 each and the cowl...$92.15.
i have seen the cowl for 1/2 that and i would use a black ktm front
fender and will use different handgaurds. take those parts out of the
equation and it will still cost me $257.55 for the side panels and a
rear fender. kawasaki ..... u must be kidding me. anyone know where
i can find these parts for less $. thanks guys, scott

Ebay has them all the time like new for reasonable prices. I'd way
rather have the IMS or other plastic tank than the stock tank. I
can't hardly wait to replace my stock tank.

Because salvage yards sell for 50% of new, for parts that are often crap. Or at least worse than a description leads you to think. My personal experiences with salvage yards, are if you can't pull the parts off yourself (and therefore see the condition of the donor bike) don't bother. You'll have better luck on Ebay. Oh, Devon, I was thinking of LOCAL yards were the buyer checks the item
FIRST.

I finally got some accessory parts that were sleeping in Canada
Customs for the mandatory 3 week irritation. I mounted the 9" higher
windshield, center stand and rad guards with little problem. As I
mounted the KLR for the first time after the installation, the new
windshield gave me a good whack across the eyes (face shield was
open). It sure slants back towards me a lot ! No wonder it hasn't
cured the buffeting of the original, but rather redirected the blast
to a different part of my helmet ! Then I tried to get the pig up on
the center stand. Wow ! I'm 6'2",195lbs and couldn't do it without
rolling the back wheel on to a rubber block. My emergency kit will
have to include a 2X4 block and a tube of Prep H !
