anyone try hid's
Hey all,
I was looking around on line today, and I saw HID conversions
for H4 bulbed headlights. These were not the HID look alike blue
halogen bulbs, but a real HID system that fits in the H4 socket on
your car/bike. The benefits would be brighter light with only 35w
use in stead of the 55w low beam. The problem is price, they come in
sets for cars, so you get two, but the price is around $400(usd).
Anyone try them? Anyone willing to go halvsies on a set with me to
try? Just looking into the possibilities right now, but I am very
 interested.

You probably can't go halfsies since it will only come with one ballast. In
the stock KLR reflector it probably won't do much. Better off buying and
 mounting exterrnal HID driving light(s).

one is for me and the other for you. They go in the headlight where
your current light is. I also have been looking at HID driving
lights since they are super bright and only use 35w, but they are
 $$$$$ also.

I *hate* those things, or similar chips with that stuff in/on/around them.

My wife buys (those) chips and I usually get in the bag later in the
evening. When the first 'gut-buster' hits I KNOW what they are. By then,
 it's too late....

I made the mistake of riding in front of a BMW with one installed.
It was like riding with the sun in your rearview mirror. With the
exception of that one time, he lead the rest of the trip. VERY
BRIGHT! If you can make it fit, do it.
