i am more awake now. Yamaha as introduced a new model called XT660R. Don't have any idea how it works but its existence proves theres a market. I've looked at lots of motorcycles and the KLR is still the one I would probably buy again. From the FAQ's it is fairly obvious what upgrades most people would like from the factory and some I want anyway. to wit: 7speed gearbox,gear driven balancer,sockets to plug in accessories, 2 trip odometers, 10 more hp,40lbs less weight and a gallon or so more fuel.I imagine front forks and brakes could be improved with something off KAWASUZKIS shelf. Oh well [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Where did you see that, for the US market? Yamaha hasn't sold a 'big' XT here in ages, though the Tenere has been around the EU for years, lots of them on the Dakar. -- ___ ______ _____ __ ________ ___ / _ |< < / == / ___/__ / /_ /_ __/ / __ ____ _ ___ /__ \ / __ |/ // / ****/ (_ / _ \/ __/ / / / _ \/ // / ' \/ _ \ /__/ /_/ |_/_//_/ == \___/\___/\__/ /_/ /_//_/\_,_/_/_/_/ .__/ (_) 8600 miles*Russel Lines*Supertrapp Race* /_/ http://www.panix.com/~cesser/mybike/

Maybe he's thinking of the 660cc Yamaha as packaged by MZ? Incidentally, it seems like that 660cc engine shows up all over the place -- in quads, in the MZ, in Yamaha's own bikes that aren't sold here, etc. I wonder if there are any other Kawasaki products that use the KLR motor? The 650cc quads seem to be Different. Thor

Not a snowballs chance in hell. The ATV and play bike markets are far too competitive for BigK to even consider dropping in our ancient underpowered mill into a spanking new ATV. It'd be blood in the water for Honda and Yamaha. Besides with ATV's and dirtbikes outselling dualsports by 10-15x (or whatever, but it's definitely a multiple of a multiple) it's not even cost-effective to consider using an old plant when marketing the new improved model every 1-2 years is what is selling. Nobody cares about the DS market in the US and it shows. We are the lowest of low. Z DC A5X A12X

big gun headpipe vs stock

Post by Fred Hink » Wed Jan 28, 2004 6:11 pm

It should fit. I know for sure that the stock head pipe will fit the stock muffler and the Laser Pro Duro. The Laser Pro Duro also fits the Big Gun head pipe, therefore the Big Gun head pipe should fit the stock muffler. Fred http://www.arrowheadmotorsports.com http://www.angelfire.com/ut/moab/cmc.html
