I got on that $88 bandwagon and got a lift from Sears. I just started using it today (replacing my differential in my Supra) to lower about a 80 lb object and it started leaking before I really used it. I put it together last night , 'played' around with it, then noticed an oil spot underneath. Then when I started using it, it really started leaking around where the pedal you push when lowering makes contact with the bottom of the cylinder..Has anyone experienced this ? I bought one a month ago, havent used it yet. I forgot to ask about the warrenty. Have to be carefull with sears. Their "handtools" are guarenteed for a lifetime. But when I had a 4 month old Reciprocating Saw go out on me, it was basically my problem. All I could have done was take it to he service center to get fixed, but I would have to flip the bill.

Unsure about the Lift, but thought Sears had 1 year on power tools. If the purchase was really recent bring it back with receipt, on the phone its easy to tell somebody sorry, when your standing in front of them with a brand new part you just bought from them and its a bad part, the sorry is alot harder to say. Hey John, I've been using mine for well over a year with no problems. The one "gotcha," if it can be called that, is that although the lift has always been in the (heated only on demand) garage, the frame is getting rusty. Certainly not the end of the world, but the lift definitely isn't powder coated, as I assumed it was. I would definitely buy another one, or recommend one to a friend. Just my .02 . Having had an assortment of the Chinese bottle jacks and lifts over the years, you tend to either get one with good seals or bad seals. I would take it back. Get another one that doesn't leak and you'll have it for a while. A reminder, NEVER trust a jack, ALWAYS use jack stands. At least these lifts let you take the load off the bottle and set it on their braces. I had a VW beetle bounce the oil pan off my nose once because I trusted a floor jack while under the car without cribbing it up or using jack stands. I just laid there frozen pondering if it had sunk another two inches when it fell.

About 2 months ago, when we all had a "jack thread" going, I ranted and raved about my Sears jack. I had owned it for about 7 months and used it extensively. I think it was the very next day when I went down to the garage, let down my bike, moved the jack, and BEHOLD, a little puddle of jack oil. I was pissed off having just said great things about it, and I was just going to take it back for another one (they are THAT good and easy to use with the KLR). But when a couple of days went by, I noticed that it just was not leaking any more. I have used it alot as usual, and it still has not leaked one drop. Coooooooooooollll. Keith, you know what the problem is! The last time you bragged on it, you hexed it--therefore, leakage. Well, you've done it again, and you know what will happen the next time you use it. We all know the world's mechanical gremlins are lurking about sites like this one just waiting for the opportunity. LOL! Well, I hope not this time anyway, but isn't that just about the way it works. You have a good power tool or other mechanical device, and just about the time you've commented "out loud" about how long you've had it and how good it is...the curse hits. I took my lift back to Sears last night - looks like the new one doesn't leak.. Now I can put my diff back in so I can get my car out of the garage for this Saturday's doohickey event..thanks.. Chris, I'm with you on the jack stands - I even get nervous when I have those supporting the car.In this case even though I had to lift the rear end up so I could spin the drive shaft and axles, I drove the car up on my car ramps, then lifted the car up and held it up with the jack stands.
