If you're interested in Pelican cases, give Jake a call (www.sagebrushmachine.com). He makes a rack and gets the cases at a good price. __Arden

I studied the case issue in detail and also decided on the Pelican cases. I am getting them from Jake. The 2 cases were about $200 from caseexpress.com (tell them Jake sent you for discount) Be prepared to wait awhile. I have the deck plate but am still waiting for the rest of the parts. Its been almost 2 months.--- On Thu 10/09, Arden Kysely < arden_kysely@... > wrote: From: Arden Kysely [mailto: arden_kysely@...]To: DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.comDate: Thu, 09 Oct 2003 18:28:55 -0000Subject: [DSN_klr650] Re: Best Luggage for my new 2004 KLR-650If you're interested in Pelican cases, give Jake a call (www.sagebrushmachine.com). I'm running Happy Trail panniers. Rugged. Classic looks. Top quality workmanship. I had a choice of using the Givis off my Suzuki 1150 or trying something different. About the time I was about ready to stick with the Givis for the second time I had the metal bracket on the bag sheered off by nothing more than a shopping cart. For the second time I had to wait four months for Givi to finally ship the replacement parts to my dealer. The panniers have been down several times, one a tumble off a 12,800' Colorado trail and nothing has broken or dented. There is no doubt in my mind that the Jesse Cases are the best but also the most expensive. The Pelicans are a nice case but the mounting system some recommend is stupid looking, clunky, and overpriced. --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "Bogdan Swider" wrote:

It just so happens that I spent this weekend riding and camping with Jake. He had a big bag full of new doohickies that had just picked up that had just been heat-treated, and he said he needed to get back to his shop to ship out the orders. He mentioned that he doesn't cash the checks until he ships the orders, so that explains your check. Jake is a retired machinist who loves riding and working on his KLR, so I guess sometimes the business becomes second priority to riding. He is still there, though, and and really knows his stuff about machining and metallurgy. I ordered a new doohickie and spring from him today too.
