no 2004 klr 650's ?

Post by Lloyd F. Rauschkolb » Thu Sep 11, 2003 3:23 pm

I just checked with the General Manager of my local Kawasucki dealership and inquired as to when, if ever, I will be getting my new 2004 model KLR 650 for my son. It was due in today. He said that the 2004's have not even made it to Los Angeles yet, and it will be at least another couple of weeks before he gets one, maybe longer. Anybody know if he is telling me the truth? I have no reason to disbelieve him, but if I can get another one sooner within a reasonable driving distance of Gulfport, Mississippi I might go that route. Thanks. My local dealer (just a bit south of St. Louis) just put a new one on the floor today. He got it Tuesday. Tom Roper Festus, Mo. 02 KLR650 98 ZG1000

I made a deal for one a month or so ago, but for some reason, my dealer can't deliver the goods. He keeps putting me off and making excuses. I could have had the 2003 model long ago, but my boy likes that new red color. Lloyd --- Walt wrote:

He must have gone to the Kawasaki Dealer Orientation and Training seminars before he opened for business.

Yeah, but motorcycle distribution is so flakey. No one ever seems to know what is coming from where, or when. Any number of things could be holding them up. I suspect your dealer wants to get his hands on your money more than you want to get your hands on your new bike. If he's otherwise a good dealer, I'd give him a break. I'm sure it's frustrating, but some new model bikes don't show up until February to April in the spring. You're probably going to have this bike a long time, so I think it's worth waiting for what you want. Jett, A15 AZ --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "Lloyd F. Rauschkolb" wrote:

I think they come from San Diego not Los Angeles??? thats what my dealer said. maybe they changed ports. Besides, California gets them first than they work their way east. Most big cities also get them before small towns. --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "Lloyd F. Rauschkolb" wrote:

I just saw an '04 KLR 250 today. If the 650 is the same color, I'm not too sure about it. Kind of a muted wine red/burgundy. I'll keep my '97 blue-green for now. -j. ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: "kcuf_oohay_666" Date: Fri, 12 Sep 2003 01:46:56 -0000

I saw an 04 250 last week. The tank is black, and the plastic appeared blood red to me. Eric in Pa

My dealer got my KLR250 in two weeks ago (I like it!) but expects the 650's to arrive there "any day" now. He has people waiting for them already, so it seems to be in the hands of the distributors as to "who gets what first".

Check your tire pressures, and see if the triple-tree main swivel- point is not too loose -- see if it has any extra "play", and needs tightening. Better a little snug, than a little loose.
