kenda 270's
I'm on my third Trakmaster (kenda K760) rear, and love them.
I get about 2500-3000miles out of them before they are
useless offroad, this would leave another 1000mi of safe
tread and another 1000mi after that before the cords show.

Everyone I know who has had problems with Kenda tires, and
told the company about it, has been taken care of in
exemplary fashion. They had a recall a few years ago I
believe, a batch of K270 that weren't cured right or
something like that. The overwhelmingly common experience is
acceptable performance and longeveity at a bargain price.

Sure they're not perfect, they're cheap-ass tires. As for
dual-sporting a CRF450 and then complaining about tire life,
 well.....

kenda 270's
Musta been a bad batch. I have 5000 miles on a set and the front one
looks new and the back looks about 3/4. I ride hwy, trail, single and
double track. I run 18 psi front and 20 read offroad and 22 / 26 on
road. I figure most of the wear on the read is from the downshifting
durring deceleration on the pavement and the little skids it causes
on the read tire. They do "wander" a little bit but realy didn't
notice it till someone on list mentioned it. I grew up riding dirt
bikes and all nobies "wonder" on pavement so I guess I just expected
 it.

kenda 270's
My experiance with the K270s was much the same, having churned
through two sets, averaging about 4000mi on the rears. Like the
KLR, a good, cheap, general purpose choice, as long as your choice
is something like 50/50 riding. The K270s stick much better on-road
after about 1500mi, still nowhere near as sticky as the D604s,
Gripsters, or even the IRC GP110s (n that order).

I've pushed them to 80+ on AZ interstate at 100+ degrees without
complaint, running 30psi and HD tubes, carrying my 200lbs and
another 70lbs of camping gear. Never lost a lug so never had to find
 out about warranty service.

 just opinions,

kenda 270's
FOR ALL RUNNING OR THINKING OF RUNNING THE 270 KENDA(IT IS A WARNING)
dont spin them until after 200 miles(THAT IS THE KEY TO 270 tire life)
they must be seasoned and broke in just like the machine,I over ride the 270
a lot and have very good service from them, for the money and" MY" riding style
it works better than the last 20 D/S tire I have used

kenda 270's
I think it has a lot to do with a degree of "bad luck" here in your
case. Maybe you got a defective lot?? If Ford or Chevy or XYZ can
recall millions of complete automobiles, who says you cant get sold
 a crap tire??

Consider this, over the 4th of July week, I traveled from Dallas to
the Canadian border and back on a set of Kenda 270's. I weigh about
325 pounds (US) and have a set of Givi hard cases and a duffle bag
on the rack. I covered 3,000 miles in almost all 95+ degree weather
at speeds in excess of 55mph the whole time. My tire pressure was
set to 32 psi front and rear as stamped on the casing.

I think it's important for people to consider we are talking about a
relatively budget priced tire as opposed the latest offering from
Michelin or Goodyear, but even they have problems too!!

kenda 270's
The Kenda 270's are not load or speed rated. That is something to
think about while riding two up on the super slab. I would rather
spend a couple more bucks for a tire that has a rating. For example,
the Maxxis M6o06 which I use have 65S/TT rating which is good for
 112 mph and 639lbs.

nklr-east tn sighting
Spied a green KLR heading up Old Knoxville Hwy here in Sevierville Monday
(7/4/03) as I was out in my grocery getter. Did I miss a chance to meet a
 Lister?

Kinda unusual to see a dual sporter around here. Mostly 'Wings with
trailers, 1%'er wannabes on cruisers, or scantily-clad crotch-rocket riders.

Needless to say, I get a lot of "What the hell is THAT?" stuff and "How
fast will it go?". I tell 'em it's not about how fast...it's about how many
 places it will go.
