Hi All!
Nice gathering of KLR owners you've got here!
I've just upgraded from my good old '82 DT175 to a 1994 KLR 250.
Nice little bike - its got a few things wrong with it (neglected by
previous owner) - factory braking ability is a bit sad (might try
upgrading to '88 DR600 front struts and front brake soon as they
look like a similar fit) - but otherwise a nice all round 4 stroke.
I'm having some trouble getting it started when its cold (hot it
kick starts easy) - usually I have to roll it down a hill or kick it
over a million times until it starts when cold. I also have
a "slapping" noise in my top end occasionally which I am guessing is
valve clearances (40,000kms and its probably never been opened up
since the factory).
I'm thinking that adjusting the valve clearances might fix both
these problems. Haven't been able to find a service manual for it,
so can anyone tell me the valve clearances for intake and exhaust
sides for the KLR250? I'll even use the KLR650 specs if no one has
the KLR250 specs handy.
Thanks!
Dave.
